9/22/2007 - Hagerstown - Finished 7th - Started 7th - 24 cars

The Shamrock Inn - 1520 AM Vegas Radio Ford Thunderbird finally had an overdue solid run.  Car #7 started 7th and finished 7th, a very fitting night for a car sponsored by Vegas Radio and an Irish themed bar.

The night started off well, I pulled the pole position for our heat race.  Struggled a bit at the start of the heat, but we hung on for a third place finish, which placed us in the 7th starting spot for the feature.

A slow start in the feature saw us drop to 11th, but as the checkers flew, we had charged back up to 7th.  The car was just getting faster and faster as the night went along, but we only run 15 lap races and we just ran out of time.  Bobby Taylor had a strong run all night and was sitting in 5th.  I pulled a little Tony Stewart in the car and was saying "Here Kitty, Kitty."  But I never was able to complete the pass on the 18 as each time I stuck my nose under him, the caution would come out.  I was really looking forward to a last lap battle with the driver of the Black #3 Chevy, but that will have to wait until next week.

The Thunderbird has really come on strong here the last three races.  We are really looking forward to our "Superbowl" race of the year next week in the 1st Annual Shamrock Inn Small Car Nationals.  The race pays a $1000 to win and over 50 Pure Stocks are expected.  It will be tough just to make the race, but our luck seems to be turning with Saturday's 7-7-7 and Don and I are pumped to end the year on a great run!  The racing starts next Saturday at 6 pm.
