| Bobby Impressive at VA Nationals in Winchester, Va. 10/13/2007 Despite a mix-up in tire rules that led to a DQ, Bobby impressed everybody in attendance at the "Action Track" Winchester Speedway. The VA Nationals is split into a two day event, with qualifying on Friday and consi's and features on Saturday. Bobby had a tough go of it on Friday night. He complained of being too loose during his single lap qualifying, which found him 39th out of 45 cars. Starting 8th in the second feature, Bobby's night was cut short when he was the sandwich in a three car pile up, breaking the right front upper control arm. Bobby explained after the race, "I saw the 5 car get a little loose, and when I slowed up, I got it in the rear end and the 5 car landed on my hood... look at them driveshaft marks on it!"
So with a bad go of it Friday night, Bobby and his crew returned Saturday night to try to make the feature by going through the consi. Starting at the tale end of the 19 car field, with only 4 to qualify, Bobby had his work cut out for him. Needing to pass 15 cars to make the feature, he was up to the task. The 3 car shot through the field bringing back old memories of how Earnhardt Sr used to wheel it. By the white flag lap, Bobby was in 5th and needed just one more spot. Coming out of turn 4 Bobby was battling the 20 car when all of a sudden, the 20 car spun exiting the turn and Hagerstown's Intimidator crossed the line in 4th and qualified for the feature! The excitement for Bobby, his team and fans was short lived however as a tire mix-up had the track officials disqualifying Buford. Even with the DQ, nobody could argue the driving talents of Bobby. With rules stacked against him, Bobby flashed the glory days of NASCAR one more time by passing cars three wide at Winchester that brought back memories of when Earnhardt used to do it at tracks like Bristol and Martinsville. Bobby was able to pass 15 cars in 12 laps at Winchester and nobody can deny how impressive a run he had!
